The historical “Village People” will perform at the opening night for this year’s Edition of the “Friendly Versilia Mardi Gras”, taking place from the 17th till the 21st of August!! Further guest-stars: Alcazar, Gennaro Cosma Parlato, Dolcenera and Nichy Vendola.

As an unforgettable part of the gay culture, not only in the States, the “Village People” will give way to the evergrowing most important Summer Event on the Versilia Coast. This year’s Edition will run from August 17th till 21st in Torre del Lago and Viareggio. The honour of the opening night goes to these 5 boys who, cladded in the vests of 5 different social classes in America, with their dance music unchained the emotions of many millions of people around the world, turning the “gay style” into a fashion! The opening night will take place at the “Citadella del Carnevale” (the “Mardi Gras-Dome”) in Viareggio. The famous TV-presentator Fabio Canino will take care of the artistical direction of the 7th Edition of this Summer Fest.

The night of August, 18th, on the Beachpromenade of Torre del Lago the Mardi Gras continues with the Grand Final of the election of “Miss Drag Queen Italy 2005”, followed by a concert of the famous swedish band “Alcazar”, who – with their No.1 Dancehits – exhiliarated millions of young people on the dancing floors worldwide.

A very special event is being organized for the night of the 19th of August: Gennaro Cosma Parlato, a very original and outrageous singer, author and comedian – who recently created a very camp cover-version of the greatest hits of the Stars of the 80’s – will be accompanied in its concert by the Choir of the Puccini Opera Festival! This choir is very famous in Italy and around Europe. While normally they perform the operas like La Bohème, Tosca or Turandot on the open air Stage on the Lake in Torre del Lago during the months of July and August, this time you’re in for an exceptional treat: a fine selection of the male voices of the choir will be interpreting some very surprising versions of famous italian Hits.

Saturday, August 20th, will bring a very special act to the Beachpromenade of Torre del Lago: the performances will be “All Female”, with the participation of most famous stand-up comedians and actresses!

For the Grand Finale on the 21st of August, Dolcenera… and Friends will be the guests of honour. We cannot exclude a performance – at surprise – of some very famous gay Diva the same night… Just be there!

Another highlight of this evening will be the honouring of the “Person of the Year”. This year’s prize goes to Nichy Vendola, the first openly gay Governor of an Italian region.
